Where Are the Scariest Bridges in the World

Posted by admin in Safe Journey

When traveling we all hope to not only feel safe at all times, but to actually be safe. So, if you are planning a trip, and have a fear of heights, bridges or falling then you should probably confirm that you will not be encountering any of the world’s scariest bridges. Though you may think that there is nothing to worry about because you are headed to a first world locale, sky-high suspension can be frightening too, just like those rotten wood and rope swinging ones in the middle of nowhere. Last thing you want if for the most memorable part of your journey to be where you turned back at a bridge, or worse.

What we were most interested to learn was that some bridges may be fine and dandy until bad weather, or simply a strong wind kicks up, and then all bets are off. In fact the bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lover peninsulas, Mackinac Bridge is one that can bring a grown man to ask for help. In fact when the winds kick up, sometimes reaching 30 miles an hour, the Bridge Authority will step in and drive peoples cars across if they ask.

Believe it or not more than 1,400 drivers seek this assistance per year. And, more surprising than that is that several programs like this exist throughout America. Of course there are people who live for the thrill of such a crossing, so they will benefit from learning where the scariest of bridges are too.
