How to Choose Which Canary Island to Visit
Posted by in Things to KnowNot all of the canary islands are the same, so you will want to be thorough with your research when trying to pick one from the bunch. The four most popular of them are Canaria, Tenerife, Lazarote and Fuerteventura. Of those, you should not be disappointed if you love beaches, water, and activities, they will all provide those for you.
Here is a brief rundown of what’s what. It comes as no surprise that the British holiday makers love Tenerife, as it is renowned for its stunning white sand beaches. But you may not know that it is also the home to the highest peak in Spain, the Mount Teide volcano, and salt water lakes. These are all destinations that should not be missed if this is chosen as your destination. Fuerteventura seems to have made itself the water sport center, and the long list of such activities will appear endless to those who like water. Lanzarote was the location for several of the scenes in the film Planet of the Apes (now a cult classic from what I’ve been told), whether you view this as a pro or a cons will be a personal thing. Still, it has some very interesting lunar like landscapes, but it probably more importantly it also has wonderful beaches to enjoy.
Final thought – I am least familiar with Canaria island, but I hope to fix that in the near future. Until then though, I will leave the research on that one up to you.
